Maryland State Highway

Snow Removal Services

Our primary objective is to provide professional and timely service to ensure your access roads, parking lots, sidewalks, shipping docks and other critical areas are accessible while minimizing the negative impact to your customers. At the same time, preventing costly production and delivery delays, keeping you open for business while helping to alleviate the inherent risks and hazards associated with snow and ice.
Traditionally, most snow removal companies’ performance decreases in direct proportion to the amount of snowfall and severity of the weather conditions. Our firms success has been driven by the use of a well defined Comprehensive Action Plan (CAP), which allows us to ensure that even during the harshest winter events, all of our customers recieve the highest level of service.

Action Plan:

Maryland Snow Removal monitors various types of weather information to determine the need for preventative action against winter weather. Based on the current ground temperatures, weather conditions, and the forecast, Maryland Snow Removal crews are put on alert and ready for deployment.

'An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure'. The most important aspect of controlling ice and eliminating inherent slippery conditions, is to interrupt the chemical reaction of water, preventing the initial formation of ice. Maryland Snow Removal uses several "anti-icing" practices to help achieve this. These include but are not limited to, the use of salt brine applied to dry surface areas prior to an event. This practice is becoming widely used by many state level highway agencies in an effort to combat ice formation on bridges and over passes. Additionaly well use a chemicaly pre treated salt product and or calcium/magnesium applications during and after all events.

Snow Routes:

Maryland Snow Removal provides service to over 600 properties which are assigned by priority as described below. The level of intensity and the duration of the storm dictates the frequency with which the routes are plowed and treated.

Level 1 Operations:

During normal, manageable storms, snow will be removed from priority A through D properties and roads concurrently with preference given to emergency facilities (fire department, hospitals, etc.),

Level 2 Operations:

Roads will be plowed by order of priority and the D level priority may be suspended until such time as normal operations are again possible. In addition, the standards for the C priority, shall be adjusted according to the storm intensity and minimal service may be provided until which time a Level 1 Operation is obtainable.

Level 3 Operations:

When snowfall exceeds the ability of the County Road Crews and the state has issued a Code Blue Emergency, we shall implement level 3 operations. During level 3 operations, emphasis is placed on priority A facilities and roadways.   Snow removal on priority B properties will be limited and snow removal on priority C and D properties and roadways will be suspended.
